Property tax due and paying thousands of hard working dollars makes a person proud and disappointed on how your local taxes are spent.
For instance how about the Amazing job opening the streets with the snow storms again this winter. Of course there is a few that will disagree but overall in a few hours every street was open . This was done by dedicated Public Works employees Dave, Cory, and Brandon.
With a Friday night storm it’s unreal how clear the recycling center was on Saturday unimpeded to get to and keep the traffic moving in which this can be frustrating at times as we all know. They most definitely deserve a hand shake( hopefully we will be able to again) or a wave in appreciation of their performance. In return you will get a smile and thanks from them. Getting up early to make sure residents of Glenwood City that are driving are able to with ease deserve our gratitude. I have seen Public Works Director Dave Caress after hours check on problem issues that happened earlier. On his personal time. This is the same care that you get from Cory and Brandon. Willing to help you with concerns you may have.
Same proud feeling goes to the City Clerk Shari and Deputy Clerk Brandee. Even though not all phone calls are pleasant, and some not so pleased residents address these issues in ways that are not in a calm matter. You can be assured that it is handled with a smile and professional courtesy. That is the greeting you get when you stop in at City Hall . The thing to remember is they are not the ones making the rules and regulations that most people get upset about. I have noticed if research needs to be done with a concern a person, it has been addressed and responded to in a timely fashion.
Anyone that has met Officer Adam can tell you he is a pleasant person to communicate with and has great people skills. You as a resident of Glenwood City can be reassured that when on duty he is protecting and serving the community. That’s the quality it takes for leadership in any municipality.
Mayor John Larson and council members are performing their elected duties with the best interests of the tax payers of Glenwood City. Having been in this position on council I understand the clarity what is involved. Difficulty of this is making the best decision in the interest of Glenwood City. The hard part of having this position is that they have jobs that prohibits them to see what takes place during the day due to their own employment. They rely on residents informing them of what we see that goes on and any ideas and concerns that we as tax payers may have.
These dedicated employees have the same ethics I do being in business over 25 years. Honest hard-working people are the ones I do business with. Not all employees have the dedication and honesty, but we can be sure the ones I mentioned do.
Take care and stay safe so we all can get back on track.
