Topper track and field teams kick off new season at UW-River Falls indoor invitational

RIVER FALLS — The Glenwood City boys’ and girls’ track and field teams got their 2025 seasons underway last Thursday, March 27 when they competed in the UWRF High School Invitational held indoors at the Knowles Center on the UW-River Falls Campus.
The boys’ squad had a pair of first-place finishers along with two seconds.
Senior Elliot Springborn won the 400 meter dash with a time of :55.13. Junior Brady Thompson also copped a top finish when he ran a :23.66 to win the 200 meter sprint.
Eli Oberle was the runner-up in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.67. The Topper boys’ 4×400 m relay team consisting of Justin Rogers along with Springborn, Thompson and Oberle finished in second place after posting a 3:41.10 in the event.
Tyler Rogers went 9’ 6” in the pole vault to take fifth while teammate Ben Standaert cleared 9’ to secure seventh. Also taking home a seventh-place finish was Tyler Harrington in the high jump with a height of 5’ 7”.
For the Hilltopper ladies, junior Kyra Flick garnered the team’s top finish when she threw the shot put 32’ 11” to finish second in the event.
Ava Multhauf jumped 4’ 7” in the high jump to take home a sixth-place finish, Addison Wakeling placed seventh in the pole vault by clearing 6’ 6” and the 4×400 m relay squad of Elsja Meijer, Addison Wakeling, Vettori Holden and Alletta Meijer finished eighth in a time of 5:16.95.
