Glenwood City fell to 0-3 in Dunn-St. Croix play as it suffered lopsided losses last week to a pair of teams in the conference’s upper echelon.
The Hilltoppers traveled to Mondovi Tuesday, December 10 where they were dispatched 72-31 by the Buffaloes.
Neither the circumstances nor the outcome changed much when Glenwood City hosted Durand-Arkansaw Friday, December 13. The Panthers pummeled the Toppers 66-27.
Glenwood City has a pair of road games this week as it finishes out its pre-holiday slate. The Toppers traveled to New Auburn Tuesday and will be in Boyceville Thursday to face the rival Bulldogs.
Mondovi
Glenwood City found itself trailing Mondovi 40-21 at halftime of the December 10 meeting on the Buffaloes’ home court.
Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse for the host Hilltoppers in the second half. The Buffaloes tacked on another 32 points while limiting the Toppers to just ten points. Mondovi scored a decisive 72-31 victory.
Seven Buffalo players scored in the contest and three hit double figures. Amber Lund topped all scorers with 18 points and tied for her team’s lead with eight rebounds. Maddy Marten netted 16 points and six steals and Addyson Gray had 11 points to go with five rebounds, five steals and four assists.
Glenwood City did have nine players score points with Tori Ohman topping out with eight to go with six rebounds and a pair of steals. Ava Multhauf, Kaylin Brandt and Anaka Eliason each finished with four points. Kirah Krueger had three and Opal Voeltz, Lillie McGee, Kyra Flick and Isabel Davis contributed two points each.
Davis had ten of Glenwood City’s 31 rebounds with Ohman corralling six and Brandt and Flick four each. Multhauf had three steals while Voeltz, Ohman and Eliason each recorded two.
Glenwood City finished 5-for-10 at the free throw line and Mondovi went 6-for-10. Behind the arc, the Buffaloes hit nine of their 28 attempts while the Toppers came away empty in their seven tries.
Durand-Arkansaw
Much like their previous game in Mondovi three days earlier, the Hilltoppers found themselves with a large halftime deficit to make up.
Durand-Arkansaw had bolted to a 35-12 lead at the conclusion of the first half when it visited Glenwood City Friday, December 13.
The second half was not much better for Hilltoppers.
The Panthers enjoyed a 31-15 scoring advantage in that latter half as they went on to take a 66-27 win.
Senior Isabel Davis accounted for over a third of the Toppers points as she finished with ten. She also secured a team-high nine rebounds in the loss. Tori Ohman tallied six points and four rebounds, Opal Voeltz and Kyra Flick each scored four points. Kirah Krueger finished with six rebounds. Anaka Eliason scored the Toppers only three of the game for her three points.
Glenwood City finished 10-for-32 shooting and 4-of-10 at the free throw line.
