ELK MOUND — The Elk Mound volleyball team found tournament time to be all too brief.
The seventh-seeded Lady Mounders suffered a season ending, three-set loss on their home court last Tuesday, October 22 to number ten Prescott in the opening round of the WIAA Division 3 regional tournament.
The Cardinals (11-12), who finished fourth in the Middle Border conference, flew to a 25-14 win in the opening set. The Mounders looked to even the contest in the second set, but fell in extended play 26-28. Prescott prevailed in a close third set, 25-22, to secure the match victory.
The Cardinals advanced to sectional play with subsequent three-set wins over second-seeded Marathon and Fall Creek, the third seed.
No team or individual statistics for the match were provided to the Messenger or available online at press time.
Elk Mound (18-16) said goodbye to six seniors – Alexa Severson, Violet Carstenson, Allie Roder, Silona Vang, Claire Roff, and Savannah Nechanicky.
