MONDOVI — The local high school boys’ golf teams teed off their 2025 seasons with a Dunn-St. Croix Conference nine-hole meet held last Tuesday, April 8 in Mondovi.
Playing as separate teams this season, Elk Mound, lead by runner-up Lucas Svee, finished third with a score of 179 at the six-team event while Colfax shot a 200 to place fifth.
Defending conference champion Durand-Arkansaw won the meet with a 156. Glenwood City was 12 strokes back as it finished in second place. Mondovi took fourth with a 198 and Spring Valley/ Elmwood-Plum City scored a 224 to round out the field in sixth.
Both teams have a pair of conference meets this week. The squads hosted a D-SC meet on their respective home course at Whitetail yesterday, Tuesday, April 15, and will be in Spring Valley for another conference meet this Thursday, April 17.
Elk Mound
Junior Lucas Svee shot a 37 on Mondovi’s Valley Golf Course to finish in second place on the individual leader board and led his Elk Mound boys’ team to a third-place showing in the season and Dunn-St. Croix Conference opener.
Senior Beau Borgwardt cracked the top ten after he shot a 44 to place ninth overall.
Mason Mohr, a junior, was three strokes back as he finished 12th with a 47. Senior Landon KasaKaitas shot a 51 and sophomore Mason Heyrman rounded out the varsity squad by carding a 59 over nine holes.
Colfax
Junior Orion Nichols had the top score for Colfax after he shot a 46 to finish 11th at the Mondovi meet.
Just two places and a two shot back was Nichols sophomore teammate Carson Vanness with a 48 that was good for 13th.
Senior Mihretu Emch was the Vikings number three finisher as he carded a 50. Junior Levi Elwood signed out with a 56 and freshman Seth Mayfield posted a 61 to complete the scores for the Colfax varsity team.
