BLOOMER — The Elk Mound boys’ track and field team, led by double winner Grandt Mueller, scored 78 points to cop a third-place finish out of 16 teams at the annual Dave Landgraf Invitational held last Tuesday, April 30 at Bloomer High School.
With 15 schools scoring points in the girls’ meet, the Lady Mounders tallied 34 points to finish in a ninth place tie with Altoona.
Hayward won the boys’ team title with 99 points followed closely by Altoona with 94 points. Host Bloomer took the ladies’ crown with 98.2 points with Cameron in second at 84 and defending Division 3 state champion Fall Creek was third after scoring 79.2 points.
Senior Grandt Mueller won a pair of events and took fifth in another to spearhead the Mounder boys’ third-place showing. Mueller won the high jump with a best effort of six feet and also took the gold in the long jump after leaping 20 feet 10.25 inches. He finished fifth in the 110 meter high hurdles in a time of :17.02.
Junior speedster Keinin Miller had a trio of top three finishes in the sprint events. Miller won the 200 meters in :22.44, took second in the 400 meters with a time of :51.48 and ran an :11.41 in the 100 meters to place third.
Tyler Gagner, another speedy Mounder senior, placed third in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles in :42.39 and took fifth in the 200 meters with a time of :24.18.
Junior Landon KasaKaitas was fourth in the shot put with a put of 43 feet and 11.5 inches. Sophomore Rownan Soul-Stewart earned a pair of eighth-place finishes in the 110m high hurdles (:18.36) and triple jump (37’ 0.75”) and fellow sophomore Dalton Banaszak took seventh in the high jump with a best of five feet six inches.
The boys’ 4×100 (4th), 4×200 (5th) and 4×400 (7th) meter relay teams also scored team points.
On the girls’ side, senior Lydia Levra scored points in three of her four individual events. Levra won the 400 meter dash in 1:00.30, was fourth in the 200 meters with a time of :27.07 and finished seventh in the 100 meters after a run of :13.60. She just missed scoring more points in the long jump when she placed ninth with a leap of 15 feet and eight inches.
Sophomore Allie Robel scored points in both hurdle events with a fifth in the 300 meter lows (:48.91) and a sixth in the 100 meter highs (:17.71).
Freshman Lauren Gabert finished fourth in the long jump with a top effort of 16 feet 11.5 inches.
The girls’ 4×200 meter relay took fifth while the 4×800 meter relay squad finished eighth.
The Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet is slated for next Tuesday, May 14 in Boyceville.
