ELK MOUND — The Lady Mounders basketball team maintained a game and a half lead in the Dunn-St. Croix standings and its unbeaten status with a pair of home wins over Durand-Arkansaw and Boyceville last week.
Elk Mound, ranked sixth in the most recent Division 3 Wissports.net girls’ basketball coaches state poll, garnered the regular-season sweep of Durand-Arkansaw with a 38-28 win in a Tuesday, January 23 rematch with the Panthers. The Mounders won the first game, which was played in Durand back on December 8, 39-23.
Three days later, the Mounders would also get a sweep of Boyceville when the Bulldogs came calling Friday, January 26. Elk Mound jumped to 34-point halftime advantage and cruised to a 61-35 win.
Those victories pushed the ladies record to 9-0 in Dunn-St. Croix action and 18-0 overall.

The Mounders prepared for that conference game with a non-conference contest at Eau Claire Regis Monday, January 29. Elk Mound will then play three of its final four regular-season games on the road beginning in Spring Valley next Tuesday, February 6.
Durand-Arkansaw
It was a low-scoring first half last Tuesday evening when the Elk Mound girls entertained then second-place Durand-Arkansaw in a crucial Dunn-St. Croix girls’ basketball match-up.
A frigid first-half of shooting saw the two squads combine for just six field goals but seven points, a triple and two deuces, by junior Ellie Schiszik was enough to give the Lady Mounders a slim 10-4 halftime lead. Schiszik finished with nine to lead Elk Mound
Both teams offensive output improved in the second half, but Elk Mound finished with a slight edge in scoring, 28 to 24, to pull out the ten-point victory.
In that latter half, seniors Lydia Levra and Carly Mohr led the way with seven and six points, respectively. Levra hit a three pointer and went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe while Mohr canned a pair of two-point hoops and made 2-of-4 at the foul line as both finished the game with seven points. Sophomore Allie Rodel added five on two hoops and free toss in the second half to finish

with five points and junior Hailey Meyer added four points.
Junior Allie Roder tacked on three baskets, two in the final half, for six points.
Robel finished with seven of the Mounders 21 rebounds while Roder, Levra and Mohr each collected three. Levra also picked up four assists and Schiszik and Roder each finished with two steals.
Elk Mound finished 2-of-8 from behind the arc and was 8-for-12 at the free throw line.
The Panthers, who hit all three of their triples in the second half, were led by Emma Hoyt and Chloe Auth who scored ten and nine points, respectively.
Boyceville
Elk Mound was nearly perfect from the charity stripe when it hosted Boyceville Friday, January 26.
The Mounders made 18 of their 20 free throw attempts including all 11 throws in first half.
In that opening 18-minute frame, Elk Mound posted 44 points while holding Boyceville to just ten. Schiszik scored 11 of her 13 points in that first half including a trio of treys (Elk Mound’s full complement for the game) and a pair of freebies. Allie Roder had ten of her 14 points in that span with Hailey Meyer adding eight of her ten points, Allie Robel garnered six of her ten and Lydia Levra copped all seven of her points.
In the second half, the Bulldogs outpointed the Mounders, who were on autopilot by that time, 25 to 17, after hitting four of their six three pointers during the final 18 minutes of play.
Elk Mound hit 20 of its 48 shots in the game but was just 3-for-18 from beyond the three-point arc. The Mounders finished with 26 rebounds, led by five from Mohr, 14 assists with a high of six going to Schiszik, and 15 steals, six of which were credited to Schiszik.
