The Chippewa Falls McDonell/Elk Mound wrestling cooperative opened Cloverbelt Conference competition with a 4-team, round-robin dual meet at Stanley-Boyd High School Thursday, January 4.
McDonell/Elk Mound faced off against fellow conference squads from Bloomer/Colfax, Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal and Stanley-Boyd.
McDonell/Elk Mound opened the conference quad against Bloomer/Colfax. Unfortunately, no score was reported prior to Monday’s printing deadline.
In the other two duals, McDonell/Elk Mound lost 66-6 to host Stanley-Boyd and 72-6 to Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal.
Four Mounder athletes competed in the duals. Brody Mathison finished 0-1 while teammates Jesse Baxter, Ford Hay and Luca Burcaw were 0-2.
McDonell/Elk Mound also took part the Dragon Duals held Saturday, January 6 at Osseo-Fairchild High School. No final team or individual results were available.
McDonell/Elk Mound is slated to take part in another Cloverbelt quad this Thursday in Cadott. Teams include the host Hornets along with Regis/Altoona and Stanley-Boyd. On Saturday, the wrestlers will be in Nekoosa for another tournament.
