ELMWOOD — In its only action last week, the Elk Mound volleyball team defeated Elmwood-Plum City three sets to one in a Dunn-St. Croix conference match played in Elmwood on Thursday, October 5.
Neither set score nor statistics were made available to the Colfax Messenger prior to its Monday afternoon printing deadline.
The Mounders improve to 4-1 in conference action and took over sole possession of second place. Spring Valley remained in first place with an unblemished D-SC mark of 5-0.
Elk Mound will close out the regular season this week with a pair of conference matches. The Mounders hosted Glenwood City last evening (Tuesday, October 10) and will be in Mondovi on Thursday.
The Mounders will open WIAA Division 3 tournament play at home next Tuesday, October 17 against Stanley-Boyd. Elk Mound earned the sixth seed in the lower half of the sectional bracket while the Orioles are seeded 11th. The winner will advance to the October 19th regional semifinal against either Cadott (#3) or Augusta (#14). The regional championship is Saturday, October 21.
