GLENWOOD CITY — Colfax junior Jeannette Hydukovich continued to dominate the throwing events at area track and field meets, when they have been held.
Hydukovich won both the discus and shot put events
at a 5-school (all from the Dunn-St. Croix Conference) meet in Glenwood City last Tuesday, April 18. She flung the discus 123’ 8” to earn the top spot and heaved the shot put 35’ 2.5” to claim another first.
With a home meet scheduled just two days later (which was eventually canceled due to rain and cold), Colfax head coach Kathleen Thorn had decided to just bring her discus throwers and shot putters to Glenwood City.
Fellow junior Kennedy Shane finished just behind Hydukovich in both events. Shane took second in the shot put after registering a throw of 32’ 5.5” and finished third in the discus with a toss of 89’ 6”
Jeanette’s younger sister, Clara Hydukovich, a freshman, placed fourth in the discus (84’ 4”) and fifth in the shot put (23’ 10.5”).
Together, those three ladies scored 29 points good for fourth place in the final team standings.
Also competing in the shot put and discus for the Lady Vikings were freshmen Jenifer Maves (6th in discus and 11th in shot put ) and Karyn DeLorge (10th in both events).
Senior Nick Jensen scored the Colfax boys only points in the April 18th competition. Jensen finished second in the discus throw with a distance of 123’ 7”. Jensen’s six team points placed Colfax fifth.
Also competing in the boys’ discus were John Riebe (8th), Nate Edwards (13th) and Drake Knutson (19th). Those three tossed the shot put as well with Riebe taking 10th, Edwards was 12th and Knutson finished 21st.
Host Glenwood City won both the boys’ and girls’ team titles.
