Mounders earn academic all-state basketball honors

A whopping 29 Elk Mound basketball players earned Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) academic all-state honors this past season.

17 members of the Elk Mound girls’ basketball team and a dozen players on the Mounder boys’ squad were named to the academic all-state honor role which requires each athlete be a varsity player that maintains at least a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Each player will receive a WBCA certificate.

Lady Mounders to earn such distinction were: seniors Tori Blaskowski, Brooke Emery, Lauren Garnett, Karsyn Heath, Mercede Rothbauer, Sierra Simpson and Grace Roder; juniors Chloe Dummer, Lydia Levra and Carly Mohr; sophomores Hailey Meyer, Allie Roder, Claire Roff, Jaidynn Sarauer and Ellie Schiszik; and freshmen Isabella Kongshaug, and Allie Robel.

Earning all-state academic honors for the Elk Mound boys’ team were: seniors Ryan Bartig and Aiden Bartholomew; juniors Brady Amble, Caleb Beskow, Zane Brice, Lucas Johnson, Grandt Mueller, Sam Wenzel and Kaden Russo; and sophomores Kamron Diermeier, Logan Jerome and Cale Knutson.
