ELK MOUND — Another game, another win!
In its only game last week, the Elk Mound girls doubled up Mondovi 64-32 at home last Friday evening, December 9 to improve to 2-0 in Dunn-St. Croix girls’ basketball standings and a perfect 7-0 overall.
Employing their full-court pressure defense and a solid offensive effort, the Lady Mounders built a commanding 40-14 first-half advantage over the visiting Buffaloes.
Although Elk Mound relaxed its pressure in the final 18-minute half, it still outscored Mondovi 24 to 18 for the 32-point win.
The Mounders had a pair of players score in the double digits. Senior Tori Blaskowski led all scorers with 25 points while sophomore Ellie Schiszik tossed in 18. Freshman Allie Robel and junior Lydia Levra both finished with five points while junior Carly Mohr and senior Lauren Garnett each finished with four points.
The Mounders finished just 4-for-8 at the free throw line. No other statistics were available for Elk Mound prior to press time.
Ten Mondovi players scored in the contest with a high of six points by Shaelee DeWitt. The Buffaloes shot just 10-for-14 from the field including 1-for-14 from three-point land and made only 11 of their 25 charity tosses.
Elk Mound plays a pair of conference games this week. It hosted Durand-Arkansaw last night (Tuesday, December 13) and will be in Boyceville to take on the Bulldogs this Friday, December 16.
