BLOOMER — Runs were at a premium when Elk Mound visited Bloomer last Tuesday, May 17 for a non-conference baseball tilt.
The only scoring came in the third and fifth frames.
The Mounders scored a run in the top of the third with the host Blackhawks answering for one of their own in the bottom half of that inning.
Then in the fifth, Elk Mound again took a one-run lead when it pushed another score home for a 2-1 advantage.
But Bloomer (16-3) came up with two runs in its half of the fifth to go in front 3-2.
That is how the contest ended as neither team was able to put another run on the scoreboard in the final two innings.
The Mounders who lost for just the second time this season is currently 12-2 overall, finished with five hits. Jerome Delikowski led the team going 2-for-2 with a double, a pair of walks and a run scored. Joseph Javanovich plated the other Mounders run and had a hit as did Ethan Johnson and Brex Todd.
Javanovich also started on the mound, throwing four innings in which he surrendered all three Blackhawk runs on four hits to suffer the defeat. He finished with five strikeouts and walked a pair. Kaden Russo pitched two innings in relief and allowed three hits while also registering five strikeouts and had a walk.
