WISCONSIN DELLS — Glenwood City softball seniors Delanie Fayerweather (catcher) and Madelyn Oehkle (pitcher) participated in the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association’s (WFSCA) Senior All-Star Games held at the Woodside Sports Complex in Wisconsin Dells last Tuesday, July 13.
The Hilltoppers’ duo played two games against teams made-up of athletes from both Division 4 and 5. The pair played for the Gray Team which won both of its contests, 13-3 and 6-0.
For the day, Madelyn Oehlke went 1-for-5 from the plate and was also hit-by-pitch while Delanie Fayerweather went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, reached base on an error, earned a walk, and was also hit-by-pitch. Fayerwather also finished with three RBIs.
Between the two games, Oehlke and Fayerweather pitched and caught together five innings. Oehlke allowed three hits, no runs, one walk, had one hit-by-pitch, and finished with seven strikeouts during her time in the pitching circle.
“The all-star game was pretty cool. It definitely was an experience you can’t really replicate,” Fayerweather told the Tribune in an email response.
“All these seniors were able to play one last time and just for the fun of it. It was so much fun to play with them. It also was pretty great that I hit a home run my first at bat. I don’t think I will forget that,” she added.
“And every strikeout Maddie had just made it so much better. It was so cool to share that experience with her,” concluded Fayerweather.
