ELK MOUND — A pair of Elk Mound athletes have been named to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association’s (WFCA) 2019 All-Region teams.
The Wisconsin Football Coach’s Association released the members of the All-Region teams this past week and both senior Blaze Todd and junior Jayden Wyrwicki for the Mounders were chosen to the squads.
“The Elk Mound football program is so proud of this honor that Blaze and Jayden earned,” said the duo’s head coach Dave Lew. “Both Blaze and Jayden have worked very hard and always bring energy and enthusiasm to the field.”
During his four-year high school career, Todd earned a total of 2,168 rushing yards, with 1,865 coming during the 2019 football season. Todd was heavily relied on by the Mounders this past season at the running back position. But Todd also played a part on defense with 26 assisted tackles and eight solo tackles. He also snared an interception on defense for the Mounders.
Todd was selected as a running back on the All-Region teams.
In his second season on varsity, Wyrwicki, who was tabbed as an All-Region offensive lineman, was able to earn ten total tackles, recover one fumble, and forced a fumble for Elk Mound.
“This award places them with some of the best players in the region and is really well deserved, we are all very happy for them,” Lew stated.
And just this past Monday, November 18, Blaze Todd was also named to the 2019 WFCA Small School All-State Football Team as an offensive back – one of four chosen including Offensive Player of the Year, Tyler Tenner of Racine Lutheran. In order to be named to the All-State team, players must be named to the All-Region teams.
