Elk Mound boys finish strong, take first; ladies only have two harriers compete

MONDOVI — It was another successful cross country meet for the Mounder boys as they finished in first place in Mondovi last Tuesday, September 24 with an impressive score of 30 points. Their female counterparts, however, did not score any team points as they had only two runners compete in the race.
For the boys, Cochrane-Fountain City took second place with 55 points and Blair-Taylor was in third with 85 points. On the lady’s side of things, Cochrane-Fountain City took first with 24 points followed by Boyceville with 63 points.
Cade Hanson and Andrew Pathos finished the race within five seconds of each other in second and third place respectively with times of 18:19.6 and 18:24.1.
The next two runners to cross for the Mounder boys were Lukas Wagner and Seth Hazen. Wagner finished in seventh place with a time of 19:28.3 and Hazen finished with a time of 19:39.7 for eighth place.
Elk Mound’s athletes that scored points for the boys all finished in the top ten with Trae Schaefer finishing in tenth place in a time of 19:54.8.
The Mounders had four more athletes finish in the top 20 runners including Ian Hazen, Aiden Schiferl, Brady Hunsnucker and Carter Sundeen.
Hazen finished in 11th place with a time of 20:02.3, Schiferl finished 20 seconds later in 14th place with a time of 20:22.6, Hunsnucker crossed in a time of 20:34.6 for 17th place, and Sundeen finished in 19th place with a time of 20:44.3.
Cochrane-Fountain City and Boyceville took top honors for the ladies with 24 and 63 points respectively, and Reese Ehrat and Breilynnn Halverson of C-FC finished in the one and two spot as well for the ladies.
Olivia Schrieber and Kyra Hadenfeldt were the only two Mounder girls to compete and finished in ninth and twelfth place with times of 26:21.5 and 27:20.1.
Elk Mound also competed in Durand on Thursday, September 26, and will travel to Spring Valley on Thursday, October 3.
