MONDOVI — The Hilltopper boys’ basketball team was on the road last Thursday evening as they took on the Mondovi Buffaloes.
The Toppers struggled in the first half putting up 13 points to Mondovi’s 31, but rallied in the second half to put up 31 points. Glenwood City unfortunately could not put enough of a game together as they took the loss 44-58.
“Mondovi was another tough game for us, we shot the ball poorly and got off to another low start,” said head coach Tristan Kittilson.
Dillon Hierlmeier led the Hilltoppers with 15 points against the Buffaloes, Hierlmeier put up seven doubles and one foul shot.
All of senior forward Tanner Davis’s points came during the second half of the game off of four doubles and a triple, he managed to keep himself from fouling out against the Buffaloes receiving only four fouls throughout the game.
Gavin Janson got in the mix for the Hilltoppers putting up a pair of triples in last Thursday’s game against Mondovi.
Sophomore Brandyn Hallquist and senior Hadin DeSmith struggled to stay out of foul trouble with the teammates each receiving five and leaving the game in the second half. DeSmith put up eight points and Hallquist put up two.
“We are still trying to find our identity offensively, and Mondovi came out ready to play and they played well from start to finish,” Kittilson explained.
Glenwood City, whose record is currently 1-3, traveled to Durand last evening, Tuesday, for their first of three games over the next week. The Hilltoppers will then host the Colfax Vikings on December 13 and Baldwin-Woodville on Tuesday December 18.
