BARRON – It was a cool, damp afternoon on September 18th when the Hilltopper Cross Country teams competed in Barron at their invitational meet. It was a good showing for both the boys and girls teams, with the girls placing third behind Hayward and Rice Lake.

With a twelfth place finish, Bella Simmons was the first Topper to cross the finish line with a time of 21:56.6. She was followed by Izzy Williams in 21st and Emily Bethell and Kendall Schutz in 26th and 27th, respectively. Rounding out the top five was Gabby Moede who finished in the 43rd spot.

In his first race back junior, Jabin Hojem lead the Hilltopper boys as he finished in the 15th spot with a time of 19:22.9. Austin Nelson was less than fifteen seconds behind as he crossed the line in 20th place. Just under a minute later Thomas Moede came in 31st, followed by Elijah Simmons in 38th and Henry Wallin in 45th.
