HAMMOND — The Mounders cross country teams seemed to find a groove August 30 with the girls’ team finishing third and the boys finishing sixth at the Saint Croix Central invitational.

“We trained up through this meet so seeing our kids fight through after a tough week of workouts was very encouraging,” commented Coach Jeremiah Fredrickson.

The girls had two runners finish in the top 15 in their second race of the season and all their scoring runners placed in the top 30 to help the girls take the bronze finish with 86 points.

Senior Alana Plaszcz crossed first for the Mounder girls in eighth place with a time of 22:16.92, she was followed by fellow senior Dannielle Olson with a time of 22:54.89 in 13th place.

Finishing within second of one another, Victoria Fasbender and Brook Plaszcz came in 18th and 19th place with times of 23:20.27 and 23:24.65.

“We had some personal bests which is always nice and saw some kids find that next gear at the end of their races, over all it was a nice meet, good weather and we’re happy with where we’re at,” said Fredrickson.

The teams head to Cameron for their next invitational on Thursday, September 6 at 4:30pm. Elk Mound will then be on the UW-Barron County campus in Rice Lake on Tuesday, September 11.
