MENOMONIE — Elk Mound senior Morgan Radtke eclipsed her 1000th career kill with a 2-1 win over Cadott as she added 23 more kills to her career total as a Mounder in the Menomonie Volleyball Sprawl held last Friday and Saturday at UW-Stout.
During the August 24 and 25 matches at UW-Stout the Mounders faced some very talented teams according to head coach Samantha Stelter.
“The tournament is extremely competitive and I think it provides more than wins and losses,” Stelter explained.
Going 1-3 during the first sprawl of the season was not ideal according to Coach Stelter, losing to Division 4 state champion Clayton and Division 1 power Stevens Point (SPASH), along with a loss to Rice Lake before taking a match against New Richmond on August 24.
The Mounders came back on Saturday to finish 3-0 with wins against Mondovi, Turtle Lake and Cadott which was a boost of confidence for the team Weix explained.
“We use this tournament to identify our weak points and provide some focus as we move forward in the season,” said Weix, “it’s also allowed us to see our potential when we put things together.”
The team hosted games against Regis and Saint Croix Central at home on August 28 and will meet Ellsworth and Elmwood at home on September 6.
