MONDOVI – The Hilltopper Track team had a good showing at last week’s Dunn-St. Croix Conference Meet held in Mondovi on May 15th, taking six conference titles back home to Glenwood City.

Senior Quinn Taylor took home first place honors in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 40’7”. While freshman Yasmin Mendez who has been on fire lately, set a personal best record of 32’ 10.5” to win the shot put event, besting the Boyceville girls who have dominated the throwing events for most of the season.

Glenwood also took first with four of their relay teams. The girls’ 4x100m team consisting of Bella Rassbach, Kristin Dayton, Bethany Ullom, and  Marie Garcia. The girls’ 4x400m team consisting of Megan Speiser, Bella Rassbach, Kinzie Strong, and Elizabeth Wink. The boys’ team of Darian Multhauf, Jacob Nelson, Carson Strong, and Jacob Kopacz who make up both the 4x100m and the 4x200m.

Head Coach, Rick Tiberg had this to say about the meet: “I’m very proud of everyone that competed at the conference meet. They did a very good job with many PRs.” He goes on to say that “this was a very fun meet to watch with great throwing and jumping”. He also said it was great to see Marie Garcia pass the girl at the finish line to win the 4x100m relay. As for the other relay wins he said “once they took the lead they never looked back.”

Some other notable finishes for the Hilltoppers were second place finishes from Elizabeth Wink in the 400m dash, Ethan Kahler in the 300m hurdles and Jacob Kopacz in the 100m dash. Kopacz actually qualified in first for the 100m dash but then was bested by Durand’s Karter Kurth in the finals.

The team also had several third place finishes with Bella Rassbach in the 100m dash, Julia Dinkel in the high jump, Jacob Nelson in the 200m dash, Darian Multhauf in the 800m, Peter Hill in the high jump, Owen Wagner in the pole vault and the girls’ 4x800m relay team consisting of Megan Speiser, Makayla O’Brien, Gabby Moede, and Elizabeth Wink.
