To the Editor:
On 28 December 2017 it will be 22 years since I consumed alcohol. On 1 January 2018 it will be 15 years since I smoked marijuana.
[emember_protected] Those are the best things I have ever done for myself. My mind and body have felt better every day since! For about 20 years I had thought drugs were the solution to my problem, when it really only added to them.
I now live by two major roles.
The first is that it is a lot easier to say no to the first drink than it is to the second drink.
The second is that when you’re an alcoholic one can always think of a reason to use alcohol or drugs, to quit you must think of a reason not to use.
My biggest suggestion to anyone: Recognize the problem. If you think you might have a problem – you probably do.
