The Colfax Messenger encourages local citizens to write letters to this newspaper. However, we have a policy regarding letters that we will publish.
First, all letters to the editor that are not signed, will NOT be printed. All letters must be signed by the writer and must contain a phone number where the publisher can contact the writer to verify that the person that signed the letter is the person who wrote the letter. No letters will be published without the writers name printed. In other words, do not send us any unsigned letters, we will not publish them.
Secondly, we reserve the right to edit all letters. Please limit the number of words to 300 and write on one subject only.
We will not print any letters that contain name-calling or insulting material and we will not print any letter that may contain any statements that we consider to be of a libel nature.
All letters must be received at our office before noon on Thursday to be published in the next edition. Make sure that the letters contain a phone number so we can contact the writer and if you are e-mailing the letter, you should call this newspaper to inform us, so we may be aware of your incoming letter. Our phone is 715-962-3535.
