Rep. Larson Welcomes Constituent Engagement
Have you ever been frustrated or encouraged by something you see going on in the State Legislature? If you have, one of the best ways folks can make their opinion heard is to contact their local representative or senator. As your state representative, it is my number one job to listen to my constituents and make sure their voices get heard down in Madison. I am here to serve you, and I would encourage you – and I thank all of you who do – to contact me when you feel moved about a certain state issue.
My staff and I work diligently to do the necessary research so that I can provide you an informed, comprehensive response. In fact, I have developed an e-Update to help share about what’s happening in the Legislature. You can sign up by emailing me at Rep.Larson@legis.wi.gov. While we strive to keep our response time to a minimum, there are some cases where I find it important to take a little bit of extra time. Often times, when complex and/or controversial legislation is just introduced, I want to get the most information possible – from multiple perspectives and ideologies – in order to properly discuss these issues with you. This includes reaching out to state agencies, interested professional associations, and awaiting any upcoming hearings that could be of importance.
So far this legislative session, my office has received over 1,700 letters, phone calls, and emails on issues that are important to the 67th Assembly District. The passionate and informed contacts I’ve received are indicative of an active citizenry, and I am humbled and honored to represent such a great district. The Legislature holds its last regular session day in April 2014, so I encourage you all to reach out to my office sooner rather than later to share your comments. I can only understand what individuals think when they actually contact me – so please share your thoughts and opinions.
