To the Editor:
I wish to point out to your readers that I was misquoted in last week’s article about the Forest zoning public hearing.
Your reporter stated, “Scepurek also wondered why the Town of Forest’s proposed zoning ordinance was so similar to the St. Croix County zoning ordinance.” No, I didn’t! What I actually said was this: “I have spent a lot of time on the County website lately, and I see that perhaps 90-95% of our draft ordinance was downloaded from them.”
Your reporter stated that I asked: “Why did we spend money when we could have taken the county zoning for free?” Once again, I didn’t say that. What I actually said was this: “It’s a shame we had to spend so much time and money fine-tuning what was already done for us for free. I downloaded the county zoning in two days. I understand why we are not going with county zoning, because we want to have more control.”
Thank you,
Janet Scepurek
