Vista LLC has resubmitted its application to open an industrial scale Silica Sand mine just south of the Glenwood City School, running east to the edge of Downing, Wisconsin.
The application as submitted calls for the material crushing and processing plant to operate twenty four hours a day, six days a week, with plans to process 1,000,000 tones of material a year. The mine operation and high explosive blasting that accompany this process is scheduled to take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Semi trucks hauling one million tons of sand per year are scheduled to operate for as many hours as the county will allow.
