STILL A MYSTERY — This bronze plaque given by the Orrin Russell Post No. 131 American Legion in 1929 used to be displayed on the base of the flagpole that was formerly located in the triangle at the intersection of state Highway 40 and University Avenue/Main Street in Colfax. The flagpole was moved in 2004 when state Highway 40 was reconstructed. The plaque was removed for cleaning — and has not been seen since.
