Burke, Libertarian, announces candidacy for 7th District

HUDSON – 2014 Libertarian Candidate for Governor Robert Burke announced on Wednesday, April 20th at 4:20 PM, that he will be running in the fall for the 7th Congressional Seat of Wisconsin against Republican Sean Duffy.  Burke, a former Financial Services Executive from Hudson, plans to center his campaign for Congress around ending the wars and healing the nations economy.

“I’m done with war,” Burke said in his speech to the Libertarian Convention held April 16th in the Wisconsin Dells.  “I’m done with the war on drugs, the war on poverty, the war on jobs, but most importantly, I’m done with the wars in the middle east and elsewhere abroad.  I’m done with war.  It’s time for us to focus here at home.”

The candidate laid out his primary legislative efforts for the coming congress which includes abolishing the Federal Reserve and returning the nation to the gold standard, eliminating the departments of Commerce, Education, Energy, Interior and Housing and Urban Development as recommended by Libertarian Ron Paul, decriminalizing hemp and marijuana, and rolling back the Department of Defense and related agencies to better address the safety of our nation rather than continue to fuel the mid-east conflicts.

“It’s my recommendation that Congressman Duffy vote for the release of the 28-Page Senate Select Committee on Intelligence report on 9/11,”  Said Burke.  “It would just seem prudent the public have all the facts before we bomb peace into anyone else.”

The candidate invites people to like his Facebook Page “Burke for US Congress WI 7”, visit his website at BurkeforCongress16.org (currently under construction), Twitter @BurkeCongD7, and on YouTube as the Wisconsin Liberty Coalition.
