GLENWOOD CITY — By the narrowest of margins, city voters gave the nod to all three incumbents in Glenwood City’s heated recall election Tuesday, December 17.
According to unofficial results that were posted on the City of Glenwood City’s website (www.glenwoodcitywi.com) shortly before 10 p.m., incumbent mayor John Larson, along with current council members David Graese and Nancy Hover each held on to their seats.
With a total of 324 ballots cast, Larson retained the mayoral chair with 183 votes compared to 140 for his challenger Ken Peterson.
The race for the two contested council seats, however, was much closer.
Nancy Hover held just a three-vote advantage in Tuesday night’s unofficial returns over challenger Barb Standaert. The tally showed Hover with 163 votes to 160 for Standaert.
The contest for the remaining council seat was even closer. Incumbent David Graese had received 162 votes to 160 for Chris Schone. There was also one write-in for this contest.
The tight council races may prompt a recount in the coming days.
All three positions will be up for re-election in the April 1, 2014 Spring Election.
The City’s website also stated that there were no outstanding absentee or provisional ballots yet to be counted.
