MENOMONIE — The Elk Mound boys’ and girls’ track and field teams opened their 2025 season with a pair of indoor meets at UW-Stout.
The Mounder squads started out their seasons competing in the Blue Devil Invitational held Tuesday, March 25 at UW-Stout’s Johnson Field House. They returned to the Johnson Field House four days later for the Northern Badger Classic – Small Schools clash.
Blue Devils Invite
In their March 25 season opener, the Mounder men placed 15th out of more than two dozens school after scoring 8.5 points. The ladies team did not score in the meet as none of their competitors were able to finish eighth place or higher to earn team points.
Senior sprinter Keinin Miller scored eight of the boys’ team points with fourth-place finishes in the 55 meter (:06.80) and 200 meter (:23.72) dashes. Freshman Graedin Miller earned the other half team point when he went 5’ 6” to tie for eighth in the high jump.
Lauren Gabert, a sophomore, had the top finish for the Elk Mound ladies when she placed tenth in the long jump with a best of 14’ 4”. Junior Taylor Frinack went 7’ 6” in the pole vault to take 12th.
Northern Badger Classic
Both the boys’ and girls’ track and field teams from Elk Mound finished 14th at Northern Badger Classic-Small School competition held Saturday, March 29 at the Johnson Field House.
The girls team finished with 15 points while the boys tallied 13 points.
Junior Allie Robel accounted for two-thirds of the girls’ team score when she placed first in the 55 meter hurdles to earn ten points after running the event in a time of :09.58.
Sophomore Lauren Gabert secured the Lady Mounders other five points after leaping 32’ 4” in the triple jump to finish in fourth place.
On the boys’ side, Keinin Miller was once again a double place winner. He finished third in the 200 meters with a time of :23.56 and ran a :06.87 to place sixth in the 55 meter dash to earn nine team points.
Senior Parker Dutzle scored the boys’ other four team points with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a best jump of 38’ 6.5”.
Freshman Adam Roder just missed placing when he finished ninth in the 55 meters hurdles.
