BOYCEVILLE — A blistering fast start helped the Elk Mound girls roll over Boyceville in a Dunn-St. Croix Conference basketball game played Tuesday, December 10 on the Bulldogs’ home court.
The Lady Mounders sprinted to a 32-10 halftime lead as they went on to claim a 59-30 win to remain unbeaten this season.
Three Mounder players scored double figures in the contest. Allie Roder tallied 16 points to lead all scorers. The senior also topped her team in steals and assists with nine and five, respectively, and had eight rebounds. Junior Allie Robel contributed 14 points, led with nine rebounds and had four assists and an equal number of steals. Senior Ellie Schiszik finished with a dozen points which included two of the Mounders three triples. Hailey Meyer, Elk Mound’s senior post player, chipped in for six points and four rebounds.
Although Elk Mound took its foot off the offensive accelerator in the second half, the Mounders still outscored the host Bulldogs 27-20 to secure the 29-point victory.
Elk Mound finished the game 23-for-61 shooting which included a lackluster 3-for-28 performance from behind the three-point arc. The Mounders, however, converted on ten of their 13 free throws.
Elk Mound finished with a 35 to 29 advantage in rebounding.
Boyceville freshman Blake Jeske was the only Bulldog to score in double digits as she finished with 15 points which included a 7-for-8 effort at the charity stripe to account for all of Boyceville’s free throw opportunities. Fellow freshman, Brooklyn Talmage, added five points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs, Chelsi Holden contributed five rebounds and four points and Aubrey Malean snared nine boards.
