WISCONSIN RAPIDS — For the third year in a row, Hilltopper junior Clayton Hoffman competed at the division three WIAA state cross country championships at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
This year Hoffman placed 54th out of 151 runners with a time of 17:42.7. Declan Gregg of the Aquinas school district won the 5K boys varsity race with a time of 15:52.7. The Cedar Grove-Belgium team took first at the meet with 98 points.
Last year at the state meet Hoffman placed 65th out of 150 runners and ran a time of 17:57.30. As a freshman Hoffman went to state with the Glenwood City cross country team and placed 103rd with a time of 18:59.
Hoffman was the top runner on the Hilltopper boys cross country team all season regularly running below 17 minutes 30 seconds.
