After finishing third in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet in 2023, head coach Jordan Kongshaug greeted 13 golfers including five letter winners from the team when practice began late last month.
Lost to the team via graduation were Ty Meyer, Ethan Oas and Kyle Irwin but back are Zane Brice, Orion Nichols, Christian Ebert, Beau Borgwardt and Lucas Svee. Brice is the most experienced golfer and is coming off a first team all-conference season with a sectional meet appearance. Nichols was named second team all-conference while Ebert, Borgwardt and Svee are all returning letter winners. Matt Hanson and Conner Albricht have varsity experience while Mason Mohr had a solid season on the junior varsity team. Kongshaug hopes the experience gained by all will allow his team to be competitive this season.
Goals for the team will be for each individual golfer to keep working to improve throughout the season, and working to shave four strokes over nine holes throughout the season as a statistical goal.
Kongshaug begins his fourth season at the helm of the team and expects Durand to be the favorite in the conference since they bring back a lot of experience and some solid players. Glenwood City also has a solid program with strong golfers returning.
“We are hoping we can keep improving so that we can be in the mix,” he said.
Ryan Krall will be assisting once again this season.
