BOYCEVILLE — The Hilltopper boys scored 105.5 point to finish in third place at the 2024 Dunn-St. Croix Conference track and field meet held Tuesday, May 13 in Boyceville.
Under near ideal conditions, clear skies and warm temperatures, the Glenwood City girls’ team tied with Boyceville for seventh place after each tallied 51.5 points in Tuesday’s competition.
In addition to Glenwood City and Boyceville, the six other conference schools from Colfax, Durand-Arkansaw, Elk Mound, Elmwood-Plum City, Mondovi, and Spring Valley competed in the meet. The Mondovi girls’ and Elk Mound boys’ teams both repeated as conference champions. Elk Mound finished with the same score as a year ago, 184 points, to claim boys’ title by 72 points over Durand-Arkansaw. The Mondovi girls tallied 144.33 to win the ladies’ crown by 11.33 points over runner-up Durand-Arkansaw.
In the boys’ competition, junior Ilan Anderson and sophomores Clayton Hoffman and Brady Thompson were all conference champions in their respective events. Clayton won the 3,200 meter race coming in a full 15 seconds before the second place finisher with a time of 10 minutes 40.54 seconds.
Ilan Anderson and Brady Thompson just barely beat out second-place finishers. Anderson ran the 800 m run with a time of 2 minutes 6.20 seconds beating Durand’s Zayne Richardson who had a time of 2 minutes 6.30 seconds. Thompson ran the 400 meter race with a time of 50.93 seconds, the second-place winner came in at 51.18 seconds.
Also winning first in conference were three of the Hilltopper relay teams. In the 4×200 m relay, Logan Rands, Elliot Springborn, Justin Rogers and Tyler Harrington beat all seven other teams in the event with a time of 1 minute 37.43 seconds.

Brady Thompson also took second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.43 seconds coming in less than a second behind Elk Mound’s Keinin Miller who had a time of 22.83 seconds.
The team had a number of third place finishers. Sophomore Garrett Gross in the 3,200 m run, senior Tucker Augeson in shot put and Charlie Bogie, Conner Gross, Logan Rands and Tucker Augeson in the 4×100 meter relay.
The top three place winners in each event earned all-conference distinction with first team honors going to the victors, second team certificates presented to the runners-up and honorable mention awarded to the bronze medal recipients.
Fourth and fifth place finishers included sophomore Logan Klatt in discus, senior Conner Gross in the 100 meter dash and junior Tyler Harrington in the high jump.
In the girls’ competition, senior Haylie Hannah won the girls’ pole vault by a mile with a vault of ten feet. She was the state runner-up in this event last season. The second-place finisher in the competition vaulted 8 feet 9 inches. If Hannnah had been competing against the boys she also would have beat the first-place finisher in that competition by six inches.
