Obviously, bowling is on hold until we get over this corona virus. I thought I would put some “Rockpiles from years gone by,” in the paper to give you something to bring back some memories and hopefully put a smile on your face in this difficult time. We are also going to put some trivia question on the Leaker’s Place Facebook page. Please stay well!!! See ya on the alleys!!!
This Rockpile was in the Tribune February 8, 2006, enjoy!!!
–“Leaker”
We had our first shift of 9-pin keglers this past Superbowl Sunday afternoon. We had 19 bowlers who are all from the Durand-Mondovi country. They all bowl at ”Club 10″ out of Durand. The new singles leader is Craig Johnson from Durand, and Johnson and Rodney Bauer also are·out front in doubles with a 1627 series. Mike Bauer asked me if I knew Dean and Rosemarie Richardson. I told him we bought the ol’ Rockpile from them in 1991. Anyway, he said he was a cousin to Rosemarie, so I’m supposed to say “hi” to· the Richardsons from Mr. Bauer.’ (I wonder how many Bauers there are in the Durand areas!)
Some of the lady bowlers converted some tricky splits last week. Sherri Stevens picked up the 6-7-10. Pat Frey had a perfect shot on the tough 5-6 split. Theresa Obermueller was successful on the 2-8 leave. Linda Schouten picked up the 5-7, and Nancy Thompson converted the 3-7-10.
The Thursday Nite Ladies will end their third quarter this week. Ormson’s Gals are currently leading the quarter by four points. Ormson’s·are the “new kids on the block” and would really like to take top spot. I’ll update you next week.
Speaking of the Superbowl, I took a survey Sunday before the game started and wanted to see who people thought would win the ”big game”. Just about the whole gang from Durand went for Seattle. Anyway, the poll came out: 41 votes for Seahawks; 30 votes Steelers. Well, we all know that the Steelers won 21-10. I really didn’t care who won, but in watching the game it appeared to me that the Steelers had the “Zebras” on their side.
Some of the commercials were pretty good. WEAU-TV took a poll on their website and here were their results as of 5 p.m. Sunday evening:
Are.you going to watch the Superbowl? yes-62%; no 26%; only for the commercials-12%.
Think your team is in a slump?? This should make you feel better. When it comes to a losing streak, no team has matched that of Downes Construction of Moravia, NewYork. Between 1965 and 1967, the squad lost 120 straight games!
Birdie of the week:
Birdie with a yellow bill hopped upon my windowsill, cocked his shining eye and says: “What’s keeping you in jail Goldie–locks? Bee Boop!!
Living Will: Me and my wife, Cheryl were sitting in the living room and I said to her, “Just so you know, I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.” Then she got up, unplugged the TV, and threw out all of my beer.
Hi to my best man, Ed Waters, and his wife Darlene. They are faithful readers of the “Rockpile.”
