GLENWOOD CITY — According to head Hilltoppers’ basketball coach Tristan Kittilson, last Thursday’s home game against Spring Valley was hard fought.
How hard, you ask?
Well, the Glenwood City boys trailed by five at halftime, but pushed back into the mix in the second half to knot things up 54-54 at the end of regulation. Kittilson later said the game could have belonged to either team.

The Cardinals picked up a 63-61 win over Glenwood City in regulation to drop the Toppers to 3-5 in the Dunn-St. Croix and 6-9 overall with tournament season now just over three weeks away.
Kittilson also lost Hadin DeSmith early in the game to a concussion, which he said did not help the team.
Senior Riley Schutz led the GC boys with 16 points, and Dillon Hierlmeier was on his heels with 15. Tanner Davis added 10 points, Quinn Taylor logged nine, Pete Hill scored seven, and Brandyn Hallquist and DeSmith scored two apiece.
Spring Valley’s Zack Williams copped top scoring honors in the matchup with 20 points.
The Hilltoppers started this week with a Tuesday road trip to Mondovi, and then headed to Durand February 2. They will play again at home against Colfax February 8.
