ELK MOUND — Rhythm can be found almost anywhere you look in life.

Spoken words have a pattern, music has a beat that is hard to miss, the footsteps can tap out a cadence as people walk or run.

Sports, too, have a tempo, as Jordan Kongshaug and his Mounder girls’ basketball team found out December 11 against Baldwin-Woodville. Elk Mound found a comfortable rhythm against the Blackhawks to pick up a 67-29 win and move to 4-2 overall for the season.

The Lady Mounders led the game 35-20 at halftime after landing 10 field goals, a pair of threes, and going seven for 11 from the line. The team tacked up another 32 points in the second half while holding the Lady Hawks to just nine points in the final 18 minutes.

Nearly every Elk Mound player found her way onto the hardwood in the Monday-night game, with junior Morgan Radtke leading the way after scoring 18 points across eight field goals and a pair of charity shots.

Another junior, Ashley Gunderson-Morris, was not far behind with 15 points after hitting six shots, including a three-pointer, and going two for two from the free throw line. Senior Allie Weber picked up 11 with a field goal and trio of threes.

Crista Sweeney added seven points, Hannah Cedarblade logged four, Sydney Simpson, Mary Tamke and Kayla Bridges each chalked up two points, and Hailey Blaskowski dropped in one of two charity throws.

Baldwin-Woodville’s leading player was Lindsay Burr, who scored 12 points on four field goals, a three, and a free throw in the game.

The Mounders headed to Colfax two nights later to take on the Vikings, and then do not play again until taking a road trip for a non-conference contest at Somerset this Thursday, December 21. The Elk Mound ladies will not take to the court again until December 28 at Arcadia.
