COLFAX — With just over one week to go before the Dunn-St. Croix conference meet, Jeremiah Fredrickson’s Mounders cross country teams seem to be running well enough to make an impact heading into the post season.

The teams ran a pre-conference meet at Colfax’s Whitetail Golf Club September 25, with both placing second against their fellow Dunn-St. Croix runners. The boys’ logged a total of 44 points at the meet, while the girls were just two points behind team winner Glenwood City with 50.

The 2017 State Cross Country meet will be held October 28 at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.

There are two tricks to scoring well in any cross country meet: stay in a relatively tight group, and finish fast.

The Mounder boys’ and girls’ cross country teams seem mindful of both, since the boys saw their five top runners finish in the top 15 of the September 26 pre-conference race at Colfax, and the girls’ first five were in the top 20.
