Village of Wheeler awarded more than $40,000 in grants

WHEELER — The Village of Wheeler has been awarded $42,288 in grant money from USDA Rural Development and the Community Foundation of Dunn County for purchasing a pickup truck with a sander.

Robin Goodell, village clerk-treasurer, reported at the Wheeler Village Board’s September 14 meeting that the USDA Rural Development grant is for $37,500 and that she is still working on finalizing the paperwork for the grant.

Goodell also reported to the village board that Wheeler has been awarded a $4,788 grant from the Community Foundation of Dunn County.

The grant money will go toward the purchase of the truck and equipment that will cost over $70,000 all together, she said.

Goodell noted she is still working on finalizing the paperwork with the Community Foundation of Dunn County as well.

The Village of Wheeler will be receiving a check from the Community Foundation of Dunn County September 29 at a grant award ceremony at the Cottage Winery on County Highway F north of Menomonie.

The program will begin at 6 p.m.
