On Saturday June 25, 2016 at 4:02 a.m., deputies of the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office observed a male on CTH F near Riverview Dr., in the Town of Troy, lying in the median. Upon further investigation, a motorcycle was found in the west ditch along with a female person.
Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle, a 2005 Harley Davidson, was southbound on CTH F. The motorcycle left the roadway, entered the ditch and overturned. The male found lying in the median was Joshua D. Sykora, age 34 from Hastings, MN. The female found in the ditch was Brooke A. Baker, age 38, from Prescott, WI. Sykora was the operator of the motorcycle; Baker was the passenger. Baker was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.
Neither Sykora nor Baker were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Sykora was taken to Hudson Hospital and later transferred to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Assisting at the scene was the Hudson Fire & EMS, and Hudson Police.
This is the 4th traffic fatality of 2016.
The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriffs Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
