Lane Olson, a Colfax High School graduate that played four years of basketball, has continued his career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Olson completed his sophomore season this past winter for the Bulldogs.
Olson played center for the Bulldogs and will be a redshirt junior next year.
In his freshman year at Minnesota-Duluth, Olson appeared in twenty-six games while starting six of them. In his first year, he averaged 2.5 points per game and 3 rebounds a game. Lane played his best game of the year against St. Cloud State setting season highs in points with eight and rebounds with nine.
Olson did not play in the 2014-2015 season as he received a redshirt but trained with the team for that season.
Lane returned for the 2015-2016 season playing in twenty-nine games and started in fifteen of them. Olson averaged just over 11 minutes of action per game during the season and netted his career high in points scoring ten against Wisconsin-Parkside.
Head Coach Matt Bowen has seen Lane improve over the years and knows what he’s going to get out of him.
“He hustles and tough around the basket and works really hard in practice and in the games,” stated Bowen about Lane.
“Off of the court, Lane works hard in school and is loyal to everyone and is just a good overall kid,” said Bowen about Olson off the court.
Lane will be looking to keep improving as he prepares for his next season at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
