A 17-year old is the latest traffic fatality in Polk County. According to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol, an accident happened at 9:18 a.m. on Wisconsin Highway 46 at 120th Avenue near Amery.
According to the report, a 2000 Mack cement pumping truck owned by R and S Concrete of New Richmond and operated by Kenneth Maynard Riebe, 35, of Baldwin, Wisconsin struck a 2002 Jeep Wrangler from behind. Marissa Greenebaum, 17, of Amery was the operator of the Jeep.
Greenebaum was seriously injured and subsequently airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where she succumbed to her injuries later that evening. Riebe was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not involved, according to the report.
Agencies assisting at the scene were Amery Ambulance, Amery Fire Department, Apple River Fire Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Department and Lifelink Helicopter.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
