Two-vehicle crash leaves one dead, three injured in St. Croix County
ROBERTS — A traffic crash involving a pair of vehicles Sunday afternoon, November 8 near the Village of Roberts has claimed the life of a River Falls woman and injured three others.
Bonny J. Britton, 61, was killed when the car she was driving was struck head on by another vehicle on State Highway 65 about a quarter of mile south of Wagner Drive in Roberts.
A news release from the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, stated the accident occurred at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 8th in the St. Croix County community.
According to the report, a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix operated by 18-year-old Cody D. Carlson of Eau Claire was southbound on State Highway 65 when, according to a witness, the Carlson vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the Britton vehicle, a 2007 Buick Lucerne, head on. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.
Britton was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.
Carlson was transported to the Hudson Hospital and then to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Two passengers in the Carlson vehicle, Natasha S. Normand, 26, of Chippewa Falls and Brandon S. Judge, also 26, of Eau Claire, were both transported directly to Regions Hospital with serious injuries. Normand and Judge remained hospitalized as of Tuesday, November 10.
Britton, Carlson and Normand were all wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Judge was not belted.
The Roberts-Warren Fire and Rescue, United Fire-Hammond, New Richmond EMS, St. Croix EMS, Roberts Police and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted at the scene.
Britton’s death was St. Croix County 12th traffic fatality of 2015.
The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol. No cause of the accident or citations issued were mentioned in the release.
