UW-Madison announces spring grads

MADISON – An estimated 6,700 graduates participated in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s spring 2015 commencement exercises. The following local students were among those who graduated:

• Travis Blomberg of Colfax, Institute for Environmental St, Master of Science-Environment & Resources, Environment and Resources

• Steven Galep of Colfax, College of Letters and Science, Bachelor of Science, Psychology

• Taryn Davis of Elk Mound, College of Letters and Science, Bachelor of Science, Environmental Studies, Zoology

• Anthony Hayden of Elk Mound, College of Ag & Life Sci, Farm & Industry Short Course One Year Certificate

Approximately 5,800 bachelor’s, master’s and law students celebrated in the main ceremony, held on Saturday, May 16 at Camp Randall Stadium. Television journalist, writer and cancer prevention advocate Katie Couric delivered the charge to the graduates.

In addition, 900 candidates receiving doctoral, Master of Fine Arts and medical professional degrees celebrated in a ceremony held at the Kohl Center on Friday, May 15. Peter Dervan, Estella Leopold, Bill Linton, and Mike Splinter received honorary degrees at the Friday ceremony.
