DULUTH, MN – The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry held its 2015 Summer Undergraduate Research Program poster presentations on Thursday, August 6, 2015. Skyler Hubbard, of Elk Mound, a senior, presented a poster entitled “Synthesis and Evaluation of Functionalized Di-Benzyl Indazole Esters as Hexokinase II Inhibitors”.
In preparation for the poster fair, Hubbard worked with Associate Professor Venkatram Mereddy on the required abstract and the research poster. The students who participated in this summer research project are supported by the Swenson Family Foundation, faculty research grants, and the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program.
Each student worked on a research project for ten weeks under the supervision of faculty members in the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, and/or Biomedical Sciences. They attended weekly seminars every Friday to discuss research, career-related issues, ethics, and responsible conduct of research.
