A one-vehicle rollover on Interstate 94 east of the Knapp exit claimed the life of one person and sent a second person to the hospital.
According to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, June 21st, the driver of a 1951 Studebaker pickup that was towing a 1948 camper trailer and lost control, rolling into the ditch at the 36-mile marker in the eastbound lane of I-94.
The 85-year-old passenger in the pickup was identified as Vera M. Scoles of Baraboo, sustained fatal injuries during crash. The driver of the vehicle, Jerome Lawrence Thiessen, 74, of Baraboo received life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Both occupants were wearing seat belts according to the state patrol.
The accident caused major traffic delays as far west as the Dunn/St. Croix County line.
Assisting agencies included the Menomonie Fire Department, Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo One.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident.
