MENOMONIE — A Dunn County man is being held in the county jail after allegedly making bomb threats.
52-year-old Donald K. Wheeler was taken into custody Monday evening-early Tuesday morning, June 22 and 23 after Dunn County Sheriff’s deputies arrested him for apparently making bomb threats on a social media site.
According a news release, the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shortly before midnight Monday that an internet threat related to the use of a bomb by a Dunn County resident had been discovered.
Through an investigation it was discovered that a resident residing in Rock Creek Township had made threatening posts on Facebook about the use of a bomb.
Officers from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI and the Eau Claire Regional SWAT team responded to a residence at E9726 190th Ave., Eau Claire where a search warrant was executed.
Wheeler was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Dunn County Jail.
The case will be forwarded to the Dunn County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution according to the release.
