Pedestrian struck and killed

STAR PRAIRIE — A New Richmond man is dead after being struck by an alleged drunk driver while walking with another man on a St. Croix County roadway early Thursday morning.

The St. Croix County Sheriffs Office responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash on CTH C about 3/4 mile west of CTH CC/Wall St. in the town of Star Prairie on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 2:32 a.m.

A 2005 Jeep Liberty, driven by Alyssa Kochsiek, age 22, from Hammond, WI was eastbound on CTH C. A pedestrian, Jeffrey S. Boardman Jr., age 28 from New Richmond, WI was walking eastbound on CTH C along with Matthew L. Myer, age 26 also from New Richmond, WI.

Kochsiek struck Boardman sending him into the south ditch. Both Boardman and Myer were wearing dark colored clothing with no reflective markings. Boardman was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.

Kochsiek was not injured. Two passengers in the Kochsiek vehicle, Scott T. Matti, age 32, from Somerset, WI and Jordan M. Tulgren, age 18, from New Richmond, WI were not injured.

Alyssa Kochsiek was arrested for Homicide by Intoxicated use of a Motor Vehicle and is currently being held in the St. Croix County Jail pending formal charges from the St. Croix County District Attorney.

Assisting with this incident were the New Richmond Police Dept., New Richmond Fire and EMS, and Star Prairie First Responders.

This is the 7th fatality of 2015.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriffs Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
