ELK MOUND — Two former Elk Mound athletes, one volleyball player and one cross country runner finished off their respective college seasons recently.
Becca Kopp completed her second and final year of volleyball for Riverland Community College in Albert Lea, MN and was named Second Team All Conference in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. Kopp played the first half of the season as a setter and collected 157 assists and added 64 kills for the season. Moving to the libero position midway through the season, Kopp ended up leading the Blue Devils in digs with 259 while adding 17 service aces. The team finished 3-12 in conference play and did not qualify for the conference tournament.
“Becca was our team captain and was one of our more consistent players,” Coach Michele Hoogers said. “She was so athletic we could have played her anywhere. She loved the game and did whatever we asked her to do,” she added.
Emma Hayes is a sophomore at UW-River Falls and completed her second year of running cross country for the Falcons. After placing 72nd at the UW-RF Invite with a time of 27:45 early in the season, Hayes ran a season best time of 26:40 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet held at UW- La Crosse.
