Woman found dead in car with a gunshot wound

BALDWIN – At approximately 11:48 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the report of a shooting incident in the Town of Baldwin on 260th Street and 90th Avenue.

A 911 caller reported that he needed help because the passenger in their vehicle had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found a male suspect standing outside of a vehicle, which was parked in the middle of 260th Street. Once the male was in custody, the deputies approached the vehicle and located a deceased female inside.

Preliminary information from the scene indicates that the female likely died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

The suspect in custody is 22-year-old Tanner Rix of Lake City, Minnesota. He appeared in the St. Croix County Circuit Court on Wednesday, September 10 and was held on a $250,000 bond in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 28 year old Angel Linderman of Lake City also.

Rix also has two felony warrants from Minnesota. His next court appearance was scheduled on Monday, September 15.

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about the whereabouts of Rix and/or Linderman from September 8 at noon to the time of the 911 call on September 9 at noon.

The vehicle they were traveling in is described as a black 1999 Mercury Cougar with Minnesota registration SHJ458.

Autopsy results indicate a number of hours had passed between the fatal shot being fired and the 911 calls and arrest of Rix so any assistance from the public could prove to be vital.
